Inlays & Onlays
Inlays and Onlays are less about improving appearance and more about strengthening your teeth. Inlays and Onlays are both considered “indirect” fillings which means they are fabricated outside of the mouth and then bonded to the tooth. They are a tooth-colored material that can be made of ceramic or porcelain.
The difference between Inlays and Onlays are the way they are used. An Inlay is placed directly inside the tooth to fill the hole. They can be used to replace defective or unsightly fillings while also strengthening the tooth. Onlays are similar to Inlays except instead of just filling the tooth, they extend onto the outer chewing surface, while also strengthening the tooth.
